About Me

A Lifetime of Photography

I have been a photographer since I received a Kodak box camera for my birthday when in 4th grade. I majored in magazine journalism and photography at the top ranked Missouri School of Journalism. Following a successful career as a journalist and public relations counselor I left the big city rat race of Chicago to follow my dream as a landscape and travel photographer. I've worked in more than 30 countries and had thousands of my pictures published. I am a Life Member of the American Society of Media Photographers. The photo at right shows me working with my Wisner 5x7 view camera in about 1997.

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration

My love of nature and the outdoors has provided the foundation for my career as a photographer. I have collected a lifetime of precious memories while exploring this magnificent planet we call our home.

Techniques

For many years I worked as a large format and panoramic photographer, using 4x5 and 5x7 inch view cameras and special large format panoramic cameras. Today I use digital cameras and computer software to create my images, although many of the fine art prints I offer here were originally made on film.

career highlights

In addition to my career as a landscape and travel photographer, I also owned and managed a stock photography agency that specialized in nature subjects. I had the pleasure of representing about 140 other photographers, sharing knowledge and learning from them. I built relationships with other agents around the world, in particular becoming the U.S. sub-agent for the largest stock agency in Japan and doing joint venture projects with the venerable Bruce Coleman, a pioneering British agent who became a good friend. I have studied under master printmaker Jon Cone at his Vermont studio and at the Santa Fe Workshops in New Mexico
